The Oudenaarde tapestry is sometimes known as Verdure Balmoral. Its left side showing a rotunda and a distant village is available separately, Rotonde. Likewise the right side with a waterfall and chateau is called Source.
This fine verdure tapestry is unusual having its origins in England. In 1619 James I brought 50 Flemish tapestry weavers to the Mortlake Tapestry Works at Mortlake, by the River Thames, to weave tapestries for his royal court, later for Charles I.
Today this fine Mortlake tapestry is woven in France in 97% cotton and is lined with a rod pocket for easy hanging.
