The Indiscretion tapestry (CE133)
|
The Indiscretion tapestry has charm and wit but this brought Fragonard (1732-1806) into controversy. The noble who commissioned it in 1767 hides to view up his mistresses petticoats whilst her swing is pushed by a bishop. This example of Fragonard wall art is woven in France in an exceptional weave of 95% cotton in a delicate relief stitch. The tapestry is lined, with a rod pocker for easy hanging.
