We are pleased to present our new collection of exquisite hand-woven tapestries. Hand woven in China they present all the soft colour tones of the antique originals through thousands of yarn colours.
These beautiful reproductions are individually woven in wool by the traditional tapestry weaving of the warp and weft yarns; a time consuming process. Then, at each change of colour the threads are knotted behind. They are heirlooms of the future. Each tapestry wall hanging has a rod pocket for easy hanging.
Each handwoven tapestry is produced using the same techniques as in France over the past five centuries. This craft was based principally in Aubusson which became a Royal Manufactory in 1665 under Louis XIV along with the workshops at Beauvais and the Gobelins in Paris where you can tour and see French tapestries meticulously hand woven for French Government commissions. (When we visited I asked the guide how much each might cost if sold. He did not know but said each takes two people two or three years: I leave you to calculate the likely cost!)
